Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: this
is true rain forest. Half the world's mountain gorillas live
here. Attractions are mountain walks, gorilla trekking, bird
watching, chimpanzee, blue-tailed and red-tailed birds, butterflies,
reptiles, dense undergrowth containing rare herbs and shrubs,
forest walks and trekking. |
Queen Elizabeth National Park: Uganda's
most popular and accessible savannah reserve. Activities include
game drive, forest walks, chimps tracking, Ishasha Tree-climbing
lion, elephant, Uganda Kobs, birds, topi, crater lakes with
flamingoes, breathtaking scenery and natural forest, and launch
trip on Kasinga Channel. |
Lake Mburo: the only park with an entire
lake park of the boundaries. Activities include excellent game
viewing, lots of zebras and crocodiles, boat trips and guided
walks, Impala, topi, klipspringer, buffalo, eland, birds (offers
both dry land and water species - crested crane, marabou stork
and bronze tailored starlings), canoe and game rides. |
Kibale Forest National Park: mostly famous
for chimpanzee tracking, it also offer great bird watching,
the greatest concentration of primates in East Africa, guided
and unguided walks. |
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park: arguably
the most scenic park in Uganda offering incredible panoramic
views. Activities include gorilla trekking, mountain hikes,
nature walks, birds, giant forest hog, golden monkey, buffallo,
bush buck, leopards, caves, mountain climbing, trekking. |
Semliki National Park: it is practically an unspoiled tropical
lowland forest, an extension of the Ituri rain forest. It protects
an extraordinary faunal diversity. Activities include: hot springs,
river trail, bird watching (about 40 birds found nowhere else),
elephant, buffalo, crocodile, chimpanzee, lion. |
Kidepo Valley National Park: the most remote
and quite park in Uganda, close to the border with Sudan and
Kenya. Activities include game, Cheetah, kudu, elephants,
zebra, over 200 bird species (the only Ugandan park with ostrich), and spectacular scenery. |
Mount Elgon National Park: Mount Elgon is
the 8th highest pick in Africa, it is an extinct volcano. Activities
include: hiking, walks, Sipi falls, birds, elephant, primates,
hot springs and caves. |
Murchison Falls National Park: Ugandan
largest park. Activities include: spectacular water falls, elephants,
giraffes, Nile launch trip, delta boat trip, game drive,
nile crocodile, elephant, giraffe, lion, leopard, birds, launch
cruise on the Nile, and chimpanzee trekking. |
Rwenzori Mountains National Park: called
the mountains of the moon, is the highest mountain range in
Africa. Major activities are hiking and climbing, wonderful
and unique scenery for nature walks, luxuriant vegetation, hyrax,
giant forest hog, blue monkey, unique bird species, and Pygmy
villages. |
