Route 1: Mount Kenya route Sirimon - Naro Moru
(5 Days)
Day 1: Nairobi - Nanyuki
After breakfast, drive to Nanyuki town on the foothills of Mt,
Kenya. After lunch, spend the rest of the afternoon acclimatizing
and sorting out and organizing all the requirements for your trip.
Dinner and overnight at a Nanyuki.
Day 2: Nanyuki - Old Moses
After breakfast, drive to the Sirimon Track Park Gate. Hike to Old
Moses hut in an average hiking time of 3 hours, lunch en route. This
hike is very essential for acclimatization and quite educative to
learn about the mountain and its vegetation. Dinner and overnight
at the hut, which is 3,300m above sea level.
Day 3: Old Moses - Shiptons
An early start for Shiptons, attitude 4,200m in an average hiking
time of 6 hours, lunch en route. Sirimon route lies on the north -
western side of Mt Kenya and generally escapes some rainfall, making
it drier than other routes most times of the year. Dinner and overnight
at the hut.
Day 4: Shiptons - Pt Lenana - Mackinders
Wake up very early and attempt of Pt Lenana, 4,985m above sea
level. If you are fortunate and the weather is clear, you may
see Mt Kilimanjaro to the south, Mt Elgon to the west and even
the Indian Ocean to the East. After your photography and viewing
opportunity, surrounded by glaciers and ice rock caves, descend
to Mackinder’s camp on the Naro Moru trail, meals en route.
The attitude here is 4,200m. The hut is on Teleki Valley opposite
the main peaks. Descent will be about 5 hours.
Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Day 5: Mackinders - Nairobi
After breakfast, descend to Met station in roughly 3 hours and catch
your transport to Naro Moru town for lunch then board your transport
to Nairobi, arriving in the evening.
Route 2: Mount Kenya route Sirimon - Chogoria
(5 Days)
Day 1: Nairobi - Nanyuki
After breakfast, drive to Nanyuki town on the foothills of Mt,

Day 2: Nanyuki - Old Moses

You will wake up to a pre-down attempt of Point Lenana, altitude 4,985m.

East. After your photography and viewing opportunity, surrounded by
glaciers and ice rock caves, descend to Minto’s Hut on the Chogoria
trail for a full breakfast then down to Meru Mt Kenya for dinner and
overnight in tents. (At extra cost, you may upgrade your accommodation
and spend the night at the Meru Mt Kenya Bandas, subject to availability)
Day 5: Meru Mt. Kenya - Nairobi
After breakfast, descent to Chogoria town, which is a 32km walk. (Halfway
done, you may take transport for 16 km to the town). Lunch in Chogoria
then depart for Nairobi
Route 3: Mt. Kenya Up Naro Moru Down Naro Moru
(5 Days)
Day 1: Nairobi - Naro Moru
After breakfast, depart Nairobi for Naro Moru town where you will
spend the night at the Youth Hostel after sorting out and organizing
any gear you may require to hike up the mountain, which also serves
as an acclimatization process as Naro Moru is roughly 2,000m above
sea level.
Day 2: Naro Moru - Met Station
Drive to the Naro Moru Park Gate and hike a distance of 9 km in an
average hiking time of 4 hours. Rest of the day at leisure continuing
with the gradual process of acclimatization. Dinner and overnight
at the hut, which is 3,000m above sea level.
Day 3: Met Station - Mackinders
After breakfast, hike up the Teleki valley to Mackinder’s camp
where there is a spectacular view of the main peaks. The walking time
will be five hours approximately. Meals and overnight at the hut,
the altitude here is 4,200m.
Day 4: Mackinders - Pt. Lenana - Mackinders
You will wake up to a pre-down attempt of Point Lenana. An early start
ensures a successful summit bid and weather permitting, for a clear
view of the majestic summit scenery. Pt Lenana stands at 4,985m above
sea level. Descend to Mackinder’s camp for dinner and overnight
at the hut, having conquered Mt. Kenya.
Day 5: Mackinder - Nairobi via Naro Moru
After breakfast, descend down to Met Station and on to the park gate
in 3 to 4 hours time. Drive to Naro Moru town for lunch then return
to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon.
