days program
Day 1: Maun/Okavango Delta
Pick up at the airport and transfer by flight to Okavango Delta, a
magical world of water formed by the annual flood of the fresh water
from Angola's Cuando River onto Botswana Delta. Like a series of impressionist
paintings, the Okavango unfolds a study of the Delta's variety of
vegetation and its extraordinary beauty. This afternoon we have the
chance to see nature slide past from the comfort of the mokoro,
the traditional canoe. We explore the wildlife in a safari walk escorted by
local professional guide's knowledge and smile. Time for an unforgettable
sunset on the Delta. From the wood balcony of our lodge/camp we watch
the rays of the sun disappearing behind the brightness of the
stars and the shyness of the moon light. During the night you may hear
lions. hyenas, hippos, or elephants, an experience that you will never
forget!!! Day 2: Okavango Delta
An early start to follow the animal's instincts, looking for
some fresh water and perhaps some food. After enjoying our breakfast,
contemplating a new rising morning. we join our mokoro, to cross
the Delta flow and to experience another amazing walking safari. The
Okavango's diversity records 122 species of mammals, 71 species
of fish, 444 species of birds, 64 species of reptiles and 1300 flowering
plants. It is the continual interplay of wetland and dry land that
gives rise to Okavango's amazing wildlife. Its remoteness and conservation
efforts over the years have ensured that to today this biodiversity
has remained relatively intact. In the evening we enjoy a tasty local
cuisine in a relaxing, magical, atmosphere. Day 3: Moremi Game Reserve
In the morning we leave behind this paradise and we take our
charter flight to our next destination: Moremi Game Reserve. The reserve
covers almost a third of the entire Okavango Delta and combines permanent
water, with drier areas making for some startling and unexpected contrasts.
In the past the reserve has suffered the ravages of a rinderpest
epidemic, overgrazing by indigenous pastoral farmers up until the
1940's and an uncontrolled hunting until the early 1960's. After proclamation
as a reserve by Chief Moremi's family, the area has became one of
the most scenic and varied game parks in Africa with prolific populations
of wildlife and birds. Today we experience excellent savannah
game viewing by 4x4, as well as bird-watching on the lagoons. Overnight
in our comfortable camp where we have the chance to live the
nature in depth, tasting a wonderful barbecue at the
moon light. Day 4: Savuti Game Reserve
An early rise to reach our new destination in a beautiful
drive heading for Savuti. Often called one of the prime wildlife destinations
of the African continent, wild and isolated Savuti, sun-seared just
before the summer rains, becomes a haven for large herds of elephants.
In our game we have the chance to spot alert lions sizing
up the situation for a later attack, giraffes slaking their thirst
in one of the waterhole, zebra, impala, roan, sable, wildebeest, kudu,
buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, eland and other predators including
hyena, jackal, bat-eared fox and possibly cheetah. Overnight in
our camp. Day 5: Chobe National Park
The Chobe National Park, divided into four distinctly different eco
systems, is the second largest national park in Botswana and covers
10,566 square km. It has one of the greatest concentrations of game
found on the African continent. Its uniqueness in the abundance of
wildlife and the true African nature of the region, offers a safari
experience of a lifetime. A major feature of Chobe National Park is
its elephant population currently estimated at around 120,000. The
Chobe elephants are migratory, making seasonal movements of up to
200 km from Chobe and Linyanti rivers, where they concentrate in the
dry season, to the pans in the southeast of the park, to which they
disperse in the rains. Today we have a chance to see the
profusion of game from the riverbank. Another special overnight to
enjoy the brightness of the sky and the stars and a relaxing dinner
in our camp. Day 6: Kasane
Early wake up call to reach Kasane, the first little town after our
wildlife experience. We spend the rest of the day enjoying a
cruise boat or simply watching the river while having a drink.
Kasane is situated near the confluence of the Chobe and Zambezi rivers,
and close to all Botswana's Namibian, Zambian and Zimbabwean border.
For years tourists have been using Kasane as a gateway to the Chobe
National Park and it was from this town that David Livingstone made
his greatest ‘find’, the Lake Victoria. A comfortable
overnight in a luxury Lodge. Day 7: Victoria Falls
After breakfast we cross the border heading for the Victoria Falls,
one of the seven wonders of the world. The scenery offers an
inescapable closeness to the natural elements and to a unique view:
the towering column of spray, the thunder of the falling water, the
terrifying abyss that separates Zimbabwe from Zambia, the forest and
the placid, tranquil lagoons in which hippo and deadly crocodiles
lurk. To end up properly our amazing experience we spend our last
overnight in a beautiful Lodge, close by the waterfalls. Tour
ends the following day after breakfast.
